George “Ray” Medlin has been on the board of SkyLIFE since its inception. Mr. Medlin has many long-term affiliations with both the business and labor communities.

Mr. Medlin studied at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, and later was appointed Chairman of the Board of Trustees of BGSU by Ohio’s Governor Mr. Richard Celeste. He also chaired the Northwest Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council for twelve years. He served as Secretary Treasurer of the Maumee Valley District Council of Carpenters for 15 years, prior to taking the reins of the United Brother of Carpenters and Joiners of America’s Health and Safety Trust Fund in, directing training programs for over 500,000 members. He has worked with State/Province Governors in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

During his illustrious career Mr. Medlin served on numerous boards, including Mid Am Bank, Sky Bank, Ohio Carpenters Pension Fund (actively managing $2b), and the Ohio Carpenters Health and Wealth Funds. He also served as Chairman of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority.

Mr. Medlin is a weekly panelist on the radio show The Business Blackboard. He, along with his wife of 43 years, is a resident of Toledo, where he has been involved in many political campaigns and levy issues that have benefited the community. He works tirelessly to help companies, community organizations, charities and individuals to develop successful business plans. Five years ago, Mr. Medlin retired as an Economic Development Engineer.
